We are acknowledge with the youth problems that are going on and how it should be prevented. We have done mediation and it was really very difficult to focus on our breath but as we try and go on practicing we can do it.

We have learned about term strategy which means plan of action to teach, method is synonyms of approach as its meaning is way of doing something and skills is synonyms of technique as its meaning is ability to do something.

We were  divided into jigsaw group as it was our expert group and we were given with the topic merits and demerits of inductive teaching strategy and instructed to do research on the topic. In our group there is six members and all of us were divided into different groups with different topics.

After that when we were done with our research we had gone back to our home group and share what we have understood about the merits and demerits of inductive teaching strategy.

In my group first member started to explain with the first topic concept of inductive teaching/learning strategy. As for my understand inductive teaching means it is an inquiry or discovery based learning whereby students leads the knowledge from know to unknown.
Second one talked about purpose of inductive teaching/learning strategy. Some of the purpose are motivate students, team work and learning by doing.
Third we had procedural steps of inductive teaching/learning strategy. Steps are open ended phase, convergent phase, closure phase and application phase.
Fourth we had Role of teacher and some of them are provide guidance, modeling, design activities and encourage students.
Last one was mine on the topic merits and demerits of the inductive teaching. Merits are discourage wild guessing, students are activated to learn and self exploration.
Demerits of inductive teaching: time consuming and minimum content coverage.

Today i have learned more about inductive learning as it states that students learns from known to unknown. eg. making word from the alphabet. And how to provide guidance(scaffolding) to the students as teacher will rephrase the question and ask back to the students as teacher never say the answer.

According to me the purpose of questioning strategy is to create life long, independent learners who uses questioning as a tool to learn.
There are different types of questioning strategy:
  1. Socratic questioning
  2. Bloom's taxonomy (remembering,understanding,applying,analyzing,evaluating and creating.)
  3. Kipling questions  (What, why, when, who, where and how)
Teacher is the person who acts as model of critical thinking and who respect the students view.
Students role is to participate in the class.
"A good question will have answer on it".

PROJECT STRATEGY OF TEACHING

“A project is any activity, individual or group, involving the investigation and solution of problems, planned and carried out to conclusion under the guidance of the teacher.”
-Callahan & Clark.

Features of a Project Strategy/method

1.      It extends beyond classroom teaching.
2.      The method is carried out in natural setting or real life situations.
3.      This method involves investigation and solution to practical problems.
4.      It demands and ensures active participation from the students.

 Principles of Project Strategy/method
  1. Principle of utility
  2. Principle of readiness
  3. Principle of Learning by doing
  4. Principle of Freedom at Work
  5. Principle of Socialization

Types of project work

  1. Produce Type
  2. Consumer Type.
  3. Investigation Type.
  4. Drill Type

DOs
i.                    The project work should be written on a fullscap paper in the students’ own handwriting.
ii.                  The project work should be written in students’ own words and not copied directly from the books except for quotes.
iii.                Necessary illustrations should be drawn or sketched with pencil.
iv.                The students can use simple colours.

DON’Ts
i.                    Use of pictures cut from books and magazines available in schools and photocopying should not be allowed.
ii.                  Students should not do unnecessary decorations of their project work using sketch and marker pens.
iii.                Students should not decorate the cover page using glossy and colour paper.
iv.                Students should not use folders and folders to enclose the project work.

 Criteria for assessing
A. Content (70 marks)
B. Presentation (10 marks)
C. Process (20 marks)

Demonstration Strategy
An act of showing something by giving   proof or evidence.
An instance of somebody showing and   explaining how something works.
Demonstration method is a visual approach to examining information, ideas and processes.
It is a teaching method that allows students to see the teacher actively engaged as a learner and a model rather than merely telling them.
Purpose:
Teacher
Demonstration strategy allows learners to view a real or
lifelike example of a skill or a procedure to be learned

Students
Demonstration strategy allows the student to demonstrate mastery of a skills or procedure learned.
Procedure:
-Carefully plan the demonstration.
-Practice the demonstration.
-Develop an outline to guide the demonstration.
-Make sure everyone can see the demonstration.
-Introduce the demonstration to focus attention.
-Ask and encourage questioning.
-Plan a follow up to the demonstration.
Advantages:
-Seeing before doing: Benefit from seeing before
having to do.
-Task guidance: Can be guided step by step.
-Economy of supplies: Less supplies needed
because not everyone needs to handle material.
-Safety: Allows teacher to control potentially dangerous materials or machinery instead of students
Limitations
-Not hands-on: Not a direct hands on experience
for student unless being lead step by step.
-Limited view: Students may not have an equal
view of demonstration, so some may miss an
aspect of the demonstration.
-Pacing issue: Not all students will be able to
follow single paced demonstration.
